The Cricketer's arms
"Seacroft Green was the centre of everything that happened in the village, Gala Days, cricket matches Saturday and Sunday it was a hive of activity, with coach loads of people from Leeds coming into the country.
As children we were never allowed to go under the ropes that were around the cricket pitch. To keep the grass down in the outfield, Mr Gibbon’s horse Tommy was the lawn mower." - Alan
"My favourite part of Seacroft is the village. The Village Green is the centre of the village. I remember the cricket matches they used to have there. I’ve just lent my friend the church records of cricket matches that they played there from 1901 – 1904. We won every time. We played them all as far as Tadcaster. It was a lot of travelling and good matches. In fact I was on the village green when Jack Clark balled his last ball in 1968 – 9." - Robert
"I remember Whit Walk races in the 60 and 70s which were round the road outside the pub. You had a number on your clothes. I cam third and won a box of chocolates" - Geoff
Cricketers Arms built in early 19th Century. Host for Cricket matches on the Green. The cottages next door are at least 200 years old. There is a Cricketers football team and the landlord is heavily involved in putting on refreshments for the local Gala which is held on the Green in July every year.
