the old police House

This was the Police House rather than the Police Station. "Criminals" were taken to Crossgates Police Station. The local bobby in the 1930s, was PC Bobby Brown.

"Our local policeman was Bobby Brown who lived in the cottage [now the dentist’s] at the bottom of the Nookin. He would stand no nonsense, and would take troublemakers down a tree lined Cross Gates Lane to the station at Cross Gates. Many times he would give the offender a clip round the ear and they would never reach the Police station. He said it saved him writing out a report." - Alan

If you have any additional information about the Old Police House, we'd love to hear from you.
