Hi folks
Our building has been closed for nearly a year now, yet we have never been busier at the LS14 Trust. We have joined together with local volunteers and community organisations to respond and support our brilliant community during this pandemic. As the Seacroft and Killingbeck Community Hub, we have delivered hundreds of food parcels, helped with shopping and prescriptions, provided over 3000 activity boxes for children and families, wellbeing packs for the elderly and developed a range of online groups and resources to support people’s mental health and wellbeing.
All of this has meant we have had to put some of our ongoing projects on the back burner including our work relating to Rein park.
For the last 6 years we have been committed to working with local people of all ages to begin the process of transforming Rein Park to make it a better space for the whole community.
This has seen us set up the playbox project for children and young families, host a number of festivals and special events and deliver exciting holiday provision. It has also involved us working with and challenging the council to provide much needed resources for the park, initially this helped secure the Multi-use games area and more recently a larger, time limited, commitment to invest in a major overhaul of Rein park based on the ideas and thoughts of local people.
Over the last 12 months we would have loved to have hosted more conversations within the community, we think bringing people together to get to know each other and make plans together is the best way forward but this just has not been possible for obvious reasons.
The first lock down stopped most of our plans in their tracks:
We would love to have a chat with any of you that have a passion for the park and the local community and want to be involved in its development going forward.
At the moment, the best way to do this is online, we have set up two virtual meetings next week. We hope to see you on either Monday 8th February 11.30am or Thursday 11th February 6.30pm.
The meetings will be held via Zoom, please email joanne@ls14trust.org for the link. We really do hope you can make it.
We will be giving updates on past consultations, the plans so far and how we got there. Most importantly, we will be exploring how you can help shape and steer the development of the park going forward.
We love Rein Park and our hope is that together, as a community, we can make it the best place possible for everyone to enjoy.

The first lock down stopped most of our plans in their tracks:
- We had planned 3 visits with a group of interested children and families to look at different parks to generate ideas for Rein park.
- We had set up 2 open days in the park with Yorkshire Sports and British Cycling to model how suggested ideas might look.
- We had supported initial meetings to form a ‘Friends Of’ type group to take a lead in shaping the park and its development in the long term.
- We had secured funding and employed 2 local young people as sports coaches to deliver weekly free activities for children of all ages in the park.
We would love to have a chat with any of you that have a passion for the park and the local community and want to be involved in its development going forward.
