The LS14 Trust was set up in 2009 by a group of local people who wanted to work together to change the communities that they loved across Seacroft, Swarcliffe and Whinmoor.
Our vision is to see LS14 become a welcoming, vibrant, happy place where people feel in control and are proud of their achievements - a place where every resident is safe and respected. We want this to be a well connected community which recognizes its power to bring about and sustain positive social change.
Our mission is to build upon the strengths of our community by working to develop activities and opportunities, promoting the area as a vibrant and exciting place to live, work and bring up a family.

Food and Hospitality
The LS14 Trust’s food and hospitality services are essential in addressing the immediate needs of food insecurity while also promoting long-term health, social connections, and community resilience. Our flexible community space also hosts social groups, and other community-led activities that often include shared meals or refreshments. The food pantry began by supporting 30 families weekly and has grown significantly to assist over 650 members. Currently, it supports up to 150 people each week. Beyond food, the pantry offers extra support and signposting to other services, with regular visits from social prescribers, mental health specialists, community nurses, and local councillors. Our Community Kitchen conducts weekly energy-efficient cookery classes. Participants collect ingredients from the pantry and cook together, learning skills such as batch cooking, using slow cookers and air fryers, and cooking from scratch with affordable ingredients. |
Young People & Families
The LS14 Trust is proud to offer mentoring, counseling and gender inclusive groups for young people to learn about healthy relationships and friendships in a safe environment. Creating community-led, inclusive and welcoming spaces means that from early years into young adulthood, our younger residents and their caregivers can access safe spaces to develop an early connection to their community, identity and voice. As with all of our projects, we take an Asset Based Community Development approach towards empowering young people and families to live well, develop leadership and advocacy skills and influence their community’s development. We are here for those big life moments and transitions along the way!
Alongside the groups and projects above, we are also leading the way in the national PLAY STREETS movement: temporarily closing down local streets to create open spaces for play and community connection. |
Health and Wellbeing
We are dedicated to enhancing health and wellbeing through a variety of local initiatives. We take an asset-based approach, focusing on the strengths and resources of the community to foster a sense of belonging and empowerment among residents. By creating spaces for residents to connect, share knowledge, and support each other, we aim not only to improve individual health outcomes but also strengthen the overall community fabric. We currently run two public health projects. Being You Leeds seeks to promote mental wellbeing and create networks of support for residents through a range of weekly social sessions. Our Live Well Leeds project focuses on Art Therapy, supporting residents to express themselves artistically, which can help them process emotions, develop self-awareness, and cope with stress, anxiety, and trauma. We also work collaboratively with Seacroft and Manston school cluster, supporting young people and families through mentoring and counselling programmes. |
FIND OUT ABOUT ACTIVITIES AT THE LS14 TRUST AND ACROSS ALL OUR PARTNERS IN SEACROFT |
The WE ARE SEACROFT network grew out of wanting to be a well connected community that recognises its power to create social change and sustain a safer environment for everyone. In responding to local, and global, challenges, we saw the power of collaboration and a community who were able to look out for each other and look after each other. We saw that we had the skills and resources to make real change between us and we are committed to working closely together, long term. Many of the people involved have lived and worked in Seacroft for a long time, but came together in new ways. The lead organisations that helped to initiate this conversation include:
LS14 Trust, Seacroft Community on Top, Leeds Community Spaces, Seacroft Churches, Chapel FM Arts Centre, Seacroft Friends and Neighbours, That Name Woman, Seacroft and Manston Cluster and Climate Action Seacroft.

ABCD Asset Based Community Development
At the heart of our work is a belief in relationships, Asset Based Community Development is about bringing passionate people together, about connecting communities and about shared action to bring about change. Our starting point for everything we do is a shared passion and committed belief that the best way of seeing long term sustainable change in our community is by working in a way that enables those with the skills, strengths, hopes and dreams from our communities to lead the way. If you’ve got the passion to drive a project, an event or a cause, we want to help you get to where you want to be. Community Climate Action
Our Community Climate Action Training in collaboration with Climate Action Saecroft and Global Learning leeds is bringing people together to share skills, and learn how to protect and nurture physical spaces, increase active travel and reduce carbon emissions in Seacroft. We believe in sharing our resources to cross-pollinate climate action in the local area; inviting third sector employees, local authority workers, Primary Care Network partners, churches and residents to our workshops to increase their knowledge & confidence about climate change and carbon literacy. We are part of a citywide movement of climate activity, seeded by 3 years of funding from the National Lottery project: Climate Action Leeds. Developed in collaboration with residents, we have created a community compost system; planted fruit trees and bushes; provided green spaces to grow food for the community; started nature-friendly youth clubs and recently launched an Active Travel Hub. Some projects have developed a life of their own: such as the Seacroft Hookers and Knit-Wits, who save materials from landfill and make craft items that they then gift back to the community. The Compost Collective has 25 regular members, and is looking for more! The Active Travel Hub is growing with the aim to empower residents to walk, ride a bike, and use public transport. |
